Unilever North America To Leave Englewood Cliffs NJ Headquarters

The world's biggest fast-moving-consumer-goods company is heading to Hoboken, NJ in 2025.

Unilever North America is moving its headquarters out of Englewood Cliffs, NJ. But the world’s biggest fast-moving consumer goods company isn’t leaving the Garden State. Unilever will move to Hoboken, NJ in 2025. According to business publication ROI-NJ, Unilever will occupy three stories at the 111 River Street building in Hoboken. The site is owned by SJP Properties. Unilever did not confirm the location.

Unilever isn’t leaving Englewood Cliffs, entirely. The company’s research and development unit will still be located at 800 Sylvan Ave. in Englewood Cliffs.

Unilever didn’t explain the move, but observers say it’s part of a nationwide, post-pandemic trend. Companies are leaving the suburbs and returning to their urban roots as fewer workers are willing to commute five days a week and prefer to work from home. Unilever opened the Engelwood Cliffs campus in 2018.

At the time, approximately 1,800 employees from New Jersey, New York and Connecticut reported to the 325,000-square-foot Englewood Cliffs headquarters.

Recent Update: Sept. 27, 2024

A recent update to this news involves Samsung. According to reports, Samsung is planning a move to Englewood Cliffs in 2025. It is not noted if the move is related to the departure of Unilever from the location, said the reports.
